About
I am a photographer, writer and researcher focusing on the idea of documentary as the conjunction of visual publicity, social coordination, and subjectivity. In my pictorial works I am investigating a networked society and its contemporary material organization through logistics and digital services, asking how we can make sense of the social ties enabled by it, what knowledge is grounding its discipline and how to see the sensual environment it created.
My critical writing is dedicated to the deconstruction of documentary’s postmodern renewal. Following up on the critique of representation, I am asking how to conceptualize the new limits which arose from the advent of a theory-enabled form of visual critique that is rooted at the academy. I earned my B.A. in Political Science from Universität Bremen in 2014 and my M.F.A. in Visual Arts from the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Hamburg in 2019, focusing on political and aesthetic theory. My recent research interest concerns the notion of value in photographic writing that has defined the post-documentary situation. Public writings touch social, economic, and issues of technology.
